Another 23 For 2023 Update
At the start of each year, I make sure to set out a list of things to do, varying from visiting places in London to working on my blogs and mindfulness. They are not necessarily resolutions, more like a bit of guidance and nice things to look forward to in the wet and cold winter months.
Every once in a while I check in and share an update on my progress as it helps me to celebrate wins and nudge me to work on some of the yet-to-be wins. So here’s what I’ve done since my last update.
Done And Dusted Off My 23 For 23 List
I think I’ve done all the walks around London, so it’s getting quite tough to find any other new and interesting ones. While this is a bit of a shame, at least now I can go back to some of my favourite walking trails and see them in different seasons.
I’ve also had my second low-spend month. This was to reach an extra savings goal I had over the Summer and I have to say it was much harder than the one I had in January as that was a quiet month, but I made it.
Go to Ghibli Park is also crossed off. Well … the Ghibli Grand Warehouse that is, as it was the only section open to international tourists at the time of my visit. I loved walking through Arrietty’s world, sitting next to No Face on the train and looking up at the Laputian Robot Trooper, and can’t wait to go back once the whole of Ghibli Park is complete.
In Japan, I also stayed at a capsule hotel and I have to say that I didn’t love it. I hesitated when booking because I thought I wouldn’t like the small space, but in the end, it was the noise that was worse. Despite the capsule rooms being quiet zones, people kept chatting in the middle of the night. Not great.
Another thing I wanted to do in Japan was go on a day trip from Tokyo. I ended up doing this bus trip that stopped at Arakurayama Sengen Park, Oishi Park and Lyashinosato Ancient Japanese Village. They’re all places where you have scenic views of Mount Fuji. We were fortunate and got to see the famous peak from every direction. I’m never going to forget that.
Ongoing Things On My 23 For 2023 List
I’m 60% done with the declutter 2023 items, it has kept me busy, and there’s still a few spaces in the flat I need to go through. I also have a lot of things I need to keep as I don’t know my exact future plans, but all in all, I’m making good progress.
I’ve also been watching 40s/50s and 60s movies and although a lot of the themes are repetitive I’m still enjoying all the Cary Grant, James Stewart and Katherine Hepburn classics and thankfully there’s a lot more to enjoy that I haven’t seen yet.
I have filmed quite a lot on my travels and London outings, but haven’t managed to sit down and edit the 24 I said I would. So that’s something to work on in the coming months and take advantage of more home time.
I’m still on track to write 52 posts by the end of the year. I tend to publish most of my posts in Q1 and Q4 so that one should be fine to hit it by the end of the year, just gotta keep on typing!
Something that definitely can use a bit more work are my Digital Detox Weekends, I really need to catch up on those as I forgot about it all Summer and I’ve been noticing I’m spending way too much time on useless scrolling, so some time away from the screen is just what I need.
