*This is a collaboration with Expedia.com* My Christmas season officially kicked off last weekend as I sat down for three Christmas movies – I’m not talking about Home Alone, Elf or Die Hard, but classics like Annie Clause is Coming to Town, Matchmaker Santa, Mrs Miracle and other Hallmark Christmas…
Idioms of the World
As a fan of Marcus Oakley and idioms/sayings I felt like sharing this infograph that the folks at Hotelclub put together. As seen on Team Confetti what are your favourite common saying or idioms in your country? Mine are First jump and then say hop (from the Balkans) and The…
Quirky & Unusual Things I’ve Seen In Finland
While most of the other students from my year chose warm destinations like Spain, Turkey and US, I went to Finland for my exchange semester. Why? It was the only place that offered the course I wanted (music management) and it seemed a country I wanted to explore on a…
quirky & unusual cafes around the world
One of my favourite parts of travelling is sitting down in a cafe, having a drink or light bite, and watching things and people go by (well, at least I look at those who aren’t glued to their phone). I think the ‘age of the cafe’ is upon us –…
Travel Guilty Pleasures and Faux Pas I am Guilty Of
Sometimes I do or like things that I shouldn’t, but I do it anyway because the pleasurable feeling overrules the guilt. But now it’s time to come clean and get these travel related guilty pleasures off my chest.
YES, NO, MAYBE: What (Not) To Do in Tallinn
You might think that Tаllіnn, thе capital оf Estonia, is a pretty mоdеrn Baltic city, but surprisingly (at least to me), it has a long hіѕtоrу that dаtеѕ bасk all the way to 11th сеnturу AD, which of course means a ton of cobbled streets! On the other hand Tallinn…
Love this post!!! I have to agree with number one “seeing the sunrise,” that is always a special, important experience for me wherever I travel… it grounds you and helps you realize however different or foreign the place we find ourselves in the familiarity of dawn and the beginning of a new day affects us all.
I also love hearing other travelers’ stories…those forever will be some of my best memories abroad.

Great list! Good reminder that sometimes the little things make a world of a difference.
This reminds me so much when we went backpacking on Southeast Asia! How I miss traveling!
Travel sure makes one feel grateful for the little things, huh?
It’s JPei

Love the feeling of getting off the plane!
I love this idea. It’s so true. Travel itself is such a magical experience. You have to remember all the little moments. A night alone in a 12 bed hostel is a luxury! :] // itsCarmen.com ☼ ☯
you are right the best things in travel are free
Gaining a beautiful sunrise oh yes, I normally photograph these. An upgrade on a flight never managed it but well done, on a ten hour flight even better. I flew on my birthday and still it didn’t happen. Enjoyed reading this post Lucy x
Such a great list! All these things are awesome, expecially the snore free hostel room!
Ah man this makes me want to go travelling so bad. Great post, as always. xx

Yup! Ironically, travel showed me how to enjoy the little, free things in life, and how to cherish moments we often take for granted while at home. Great post.
