Goals For The New Year: My 22 For 2022 List

It feels weird to say it out loud, but in a week or so, it will be 2022! And with a New Year, of course, comes new goals.

Just like in 2020 and 2021, I’ve put together my must-do list of goals for the upcoming year, and I hope they can prove useful and inspire you with your own aims for 2022.

12 Walks In & Around London – This included re-walk some of my favourites and doing a few new ones.

Visit Westminster Abbey – I put together a list of the major tourist attractions that I haven’t visited and one of those is Westminster Abbey! I know these places are not competing, but I’m Team St Pauls and have not been too fussed about Westminster Abbey.

Go To The Last London Palaces – Another thing I have to do in London is to visit the last two royal palaces I haven’t been to: Kensington and Buckingham Palace.

See Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Rooms at Tate Modern – It’s still on the list from last year as I haven’t managed to get tickets, so I’m going to give it another go in 2022.

Day Trip to Liverpool – Moved this one from last year as Liverpool is still the last big city I need to visit in the North. Will 2022 be the year that I finally visit Merseyside?

Go On Two Cabin Trips – If it wasn’t for the cabin escapes I might have lost my sanity this year. I’m hoping to continue that next year and this time I’ve been on the hunt for a cabin by a lake.

Do On A Workcation – maybe a coastal one here in London or abroad or perhaps I can combine it with cat/house sitting for friends … We shall see where I end up.

Go On A Solo Trip – I love travelling with my boyfriend or friends, but once in a while I really need to go somewhere on my own.

Plant Another Green Garden – 2021 season was a success! The seeds advent calendar from this year will come in very handy.

Give Compost A Go – My current ‘compost’ is disposed of by the council, but next year I want to try and use it for the green garden. Need to read into that a bit more though.

Buy More Local – Buy less online and support my locals more. Everything is available in London after all, so I should have no excuse there.

Write Monthly Update Posts Again – I’ve been doing random ones but stopped because at some point nothing happened. Same might happen in 2022, but I want to try and go back to writing new monthly roundup posts.

Optimise The Remaining Blogposts – last year I optimised my London posts, the year before I optimised some European content and in 2022 I want to finish the remaining posts on the blog.

Write At Least 40 Posts – I also want to write at least 40 new posts on the blog. I have so many outstanding posts on places I’ve been as well as drafts I need to finish that it should be really easy.

Watch a Movie Set In Every Country I Have Been To – Continued from 2021. I don’t know why I thought I’d manage to find and watch all 38, but since it’s such a fun way to discover new movies and make the picking process easier, I want to continue with this one.

24 Digital Detox Weekends – This year I did 12 phone-free weekends and thought it really helped me so next year I want to switch that up to at least twice a month.

30 Days Yoga With Adrienne – Inhale, hold and exhale. I’ve been getting through January with Adrienne (and Benji!) now for a few years and am sooo looking forward to the 2022 edition.

Edit Videos – One of my notes just says: ‘Do something with video’. And though I try to make all of these goals as per the SMART formula this one is a bit vague, but I like to go back to editing. Maybe a day in the life of video or just a montage.

Cook 12 Recipes From The Cookbooks I Own – I only own 4 carefully selected cookbooks, but barely use them, which is a shame. So once a month I want to cook or bake something out of the 4 books. One of them is a brunch book, so I might have just committed to 2022 being ‘The Year of Brunch’.

Do A Closet Clean-Out – It’s been over a year since I did a proper clothes declutter. I really need to go through my clothes and get rid of things that don’t spark joy – or whatever the current tidying trend is.

Read 12 Books That I Already Own – I need to read 12 books that are already on my bookshelves before I buy a new one. For real this time.

Shoot More Analogue – During my staycations with Unplugged I got to shoot polaroids and it reminded me that I should take more polaroids with my cameras as well as take out my analogue once in a while.
