Would You Rather: Travel Edition

Tea Was Here

In the unofficial ‘get to know me better’ series I previously shared the Wanderlust Tag and the 24 Travel Facts About Me. This time I’m giving myself some travel-related ‘would you rather’ type of questions and other tough dilemmas for Tea.

Q: Have a $10,000 budget for a holiday and you can either fly first class for $ 5,000 and stay in mediocre accommodation. Or spend $1,000 on economy and stay in luxury accommodation?
A: Daaamn where did this budget come from? In my head this is a trip to an exotic island like the Maledives, Cayman Islands or Rawa Island so the destination would be amazing and I am happy to stay at an mediocre place.

Q: An all expenses paid trip to a small town in the Netherlands with your best friends or an all expenses paid trip to your dream destination with your frenemy?
A: I love my friends, but I am going for to New Orleans with my frenemy. I didn’t even have to think about that! Does this make me a bad friend? Plus, thanks to American Horror Story, I know how to dispose of bodies in NoLa!

Q: Have a cup of tea with Jon Hamm or Josh Homme?
A: There is only one guy for me, but a girl can dream of her favourite Hamm and Homme (or perhaps a Hamm/Homme sandwich!). Since I already had a beer with Josh Homme, I would go for a tea with Hamm.

Q: Never take the train or never take the airplane again?
A: Hmhmhm, I really love travelling by train (provided it’s not a boring and packed underground metro), but I guess airplanes are a bit more practical for those really far away places without railway tracks. Now…a train which can go over water and lay it’s own tracks in front…

Q: Spend a full day with a thief or with a beggar? (I found this one on Drifters Blog)
A: I think a thief, just because there would be more action I assume. Plus I would learn some tricks which I could use in preventing things getting snitched from me and you when on our travels. I’d love to test out my new-found skills on unsuspecting friends and family too…

Q: You have won a prize. The prize has two options, and you can choose either (but not both). The first option is a year in USA with a monthly stipend of 1,000. The second option is ten minutes on the moon. Which option do you select? (This one if from “23 Questions I Ask Everybody I Meet In Order To Decide If I Can Really Love Them” by the amazing Chuck Klosterman)
A: That is not hard at all, I would definitely for the moon. Although 1000 for the States isn’t too bad if you look at the current exchange rate. But it would be great if I could add ” has been on the moon” to my Twitter bio or even do a moon selfie (melfie?) – though knowing me I’d probably drop my phone and it would float away into the abyss of darkness like Clooney in Gravity.

Q: Wake up without your wallet or wake up without your passport and phone?
A: I am superstitious and can’t answer this one because I am pretty sure I will curse it and it will become true. Have I lost this game now?

Q: Be left behind in the bush on an African safari or Be left behind in the water on a scuba trip?
A: Definitely left behind in the bush, I’ve seen too many films where it didn’t end up well in the water.

Q: Lose your luggage but land on time OR land 12 hours late with your luggage intact?
A: I won’t choose this one either because of superstition. I own this to my Bosnian background, I haven’t met any other culture who is more superstitious than us.

Q: Bike across the US from New York City to San Francisco, or bike across China from Beijing to Tibet?
A: Uh! I think I would choose New York to San Francisco because it seems more free to me. Unless the paperwork for China and Tibet would get done for me. Nah, 16 year old Tea would love an adventure a la On the Road (but in her own way and with less Kristen Stewart)

Q: Decide between taking The Unbearable Lightness of Being, or Dracula for a ‘stuck on a desert island book’?
A: I think tablets and kindles have made these questions a bit less fun – though they do have batteries to think about. Anyway, these are my two favourite books and having to pick is really really hard, but I think I would go for The Unbearable Lightness of Being because it always makes me think of the deeper things in life. I think that’s what I would need on an island … or maybe that would drive me mad.

Q: Be able to teleport to places you’ve already been or only be able to teleport to places you’ve never been before?
A: To places I already have been, I would save soo much time and money going to Netherlands and Bosnia alone – screw you RyanAir!

Q: Be stuck on a seven-hour delay, or Turn up at the airport and realise your flight is tomorrow?
A: Turn up and realise it’s tomorrow, just because it would be so Tea of me. I once had a five hour delay (after a four hours lay over) and it wasn’t fun so I’d rather be able to go back and sleep in my bed.
