Where to Find Toilets in Covent Garden

If you’re ever stuck around Covent Garden and the Market and Piazza and need to hit up the toilets, loo or WC in a rush, I have just the guide for you.

Free Toilets at Royal Opera House

Firstly, the main free toilets are available in the Royal Opera House, but these operate limited hours, tied to the opening hours of the venue/auditorium, which can mean you may have to look at the paid options.

Paid Toilets in Covent Garden

The two main paid toilets in Covent Garden are the:

  • Covent Garden Market Building Toilets
  • St Paul’s Church Toilets

Covent Garden Market Building Toilets (£1.50 as of March 2025)

The main Covent Garden Market building has its main toilets downstairs on the lower level – called the Lower Courtyards. It can be a bit confusing to find them, but here’s a quick step-by-step guide:

  • Head to the South Hall – it’s signposted, and also where Shake Shack is.
  • On the east side of the South Hall, find the stairs leading down with a ‘Toilets downstairs’ sign. This stairway is right by the chocolate gelato store ‘Venchi‘.
  • Head down the stairs to the Lower Courtyards.
  • The toilets are on your left, called ‘2theloo‘ (opposite ‘The Wine Place’).

You pay via contactless card/phone upon entry.

The cost is £1.50 (as of March 2025).

The toilets include individual cubicles with large interiors and urinals. The quality is generally good and they seem to be cleaned regularly. It can get quite busy though, so be prepared for a wait if you visit during the busiest tourist periods.

St Paul’s Church (50p)

The other nearby option is at St Paul’s Church (west side of Piazza/square), with toilets for each sex on either side of the main entrance with pillars (portico). Also paid via contactless, priced at 50p.

Toilets In Cafes & Restaurants

There are, of course, options for paid customers in cafes, such as the Starbucks on Russell Street by the east side of the Piazza, or many of the other restaurants in the area.
