I Never Missed My Home Town Until I Stayed Away Too Long
I was born in Bosnia (it was known as Yugoslavia back then) and though I only lived there for 7 years, the little hill where half of my family lives will always be my home home. Most of the time the hill is deserted as a lot of its inhabitants…
Random thoughts on my flight back home
Ugh, the flight back home has to be the worst part of the trip right? You’re moving further and further away from your adventures, topped off with the endless waiting, making yourself comfortable ends up in yoga-like poses on your seats, the food … you just can’t wait till it’s over. Here are…
Random Berlin Observations
Tea ist ein Berliner (well… for the coming 3 ½ weeks) I landed on Berlin soil and survived my first day and here are some random observations. The seats on some trains can be a bit scary (I can imagine if you have social anxiety or something) and confusing (how…
As Seen In the Netherlands
Let’s talk about the Netherlands, my adopted home country that took me in while my own country tore itself apart – and now 20 years later the divided communities support each other by giving top points during Eurovision. Anyway … a topic that never tends to fail me are random…
July – September or Things I’ve Been Doing While Abandoning This Blog
It’s October, which basically means the year is pretty much done, dusted and banished to a shallow memory only retrievable via social media posts. But before we get down to the fun end of year things (and last minute presents stress) let me catch up on what I’ve been doing…
4 Things About Japan’s Cherry Blossom Season
From late March to mid-April, Japan’s cherry blossoms attract visitors from over the world to witness the pink flowers smothering the country in pastel glory and making it pinker than a brand new Barbie collection. I missed the actual hanami bit, but did spot some late bloomers and since I…
Love this post!!! I have to agree with number one “seeing the sunrise,” that is always a special, important experience for me wherever I travel… it grounds you and helps you realize however different or foreign the place we find ourselves in the familiarity of dawn and the beginning of a new day affects us all.
I also love hearing other travelers’ stories…those forever will be some of my best memories abroad.

Great list! Good reminder that sometimes the little things make a world of a difference.
This reminds me so much when we went backpacking on Southeast Asia! How I miss traveling!
Travel sure makes one feel grateful for the little things, huh?
It’s JPei

Love the feeling of getting off the plane!
I love this idea. It’s so true. Travel itself is such a magical experience. You have to remember all the little moments. A night alone in a 12 bed hostel is a luxury! :] // itsCarmen.com ☼ ☯
you are right the best things in travel are free
Gaining a beautiful sunrise oh yes, I normally photograph these. An upgrade on a flight never managed it but well done, on a ten hour flight even better. I flew on my birthday and still it didn’t happen. Enjoyed reading this post Lucy x
Such a great list! All these things are awesome, expecially the snore free hostel room!
Ah man this makes me want to go travelling so bad. Great post, as always. xx

Yup! Ironically, travel showed me how to enjoy the little, free things in life, and how to cherish moments we often take for granted while at home. Great post.
